What are the disadvantages of Cryotherapy
Blisters may form
May leave a scar
Area will itch for around 10 minutes
Skin pigmentation may change slightly
The applicator is held as close as possible to the skin imperfection to freeze it, and is moved quickly towards and away from it. After the first freeze the tissue thaws for about 30 seconds.
The skin is then to be frozen again, but this time it was quicker.
Is it painful?
It is virtually pain free. Ever been stung by stinging nettles? It’s the same kind of feeling. Sharp sting but over within a few minutes, a small blister might appear but it doesn’t stay for too long.
How much does it cost?
As removing the imperfection is not performed by the NHS, it becomes a cosmetic procedure. This means it will be unreasonably priced for what the treatment actually is. But with CryoPen it is performed in the safety of a salon by a professional at a fraction of the price of cosmetic surgery.

Where is the procedure performed?
The procedure is performed in the safe environment of a salon by a professional, with accurate precision it makes this a quick and easy, low risk procedure.
Are there any side effects?
After the treatment the area may sting for a short while. The area may also itch for around 10 minutes afterwards but will soon subside, and a tiny blister may form.
Will it affect my skin?
For darker skin tones it is recommended to have short bursts of the CryoPen to avoid skin pigments becoming lighter or darker.
What will happen to the imperfection?
After the treatment the area will itch for around 10 minutes, and a small blister may appear but it should subside in a few days. In some cases a small scar will appear in the treated area. The imperfection itself should fade or shrink.
Can I not have the imperfection removed by my doctor?
Unfortunately skin imperfections such as skin tags are no longer removed by the NHS as it is considered a cosmetic procedure due to it not effecting the person’s health. BUT that’s where the CryoPen comes in, this wonderful new treatment can remove those unwanted skin imperfections at the fraction of the cost of a cosmetic procedure.
